Hello to all my devoted blog readers!
On February 13th my mom and I traveled to Winterset, Iowa for the Miss Teen Rodeo Iowa Coronation for Hannah Hilsabeck. I had a lot of fun and got a lot of goodies from the silent and live auctions. There was an exciting vibe going around the room that night. My coordinator, Heather Beck, and her husband got to attend as well. Congratulations to Hannah for having a successful evening full of great food and good company. After the live auction, there was a live band and dance. However, yep you guessed it, the great Iowa snow started up again so we couldn't stay to enoy the dance. There were many other queens that came to celebrate with Hannah; Shelby Chapman (MTRI '09) was there to pass the crown over, Jordanne Blair (MRI '10), Rachel Bergren (Miss URA '10), Jenna Kool (Miss Leon Princess '09) and Rachel Burton (Miss NFPB '09).
Until next time
Happy Trails

Hey everyone! Well it's now January 23, 2010 - wow I'm not use to writing that yet! I got the opportunity to go to the Miss Rodeo Iowa coronation for Jordanne Blair in Lake City, Iowa. With the weather we have been having, I was a little concerned that I wasn't going to make it. Luckly it wasn't too foggy so mom, my friend Laramie and I made the two and half hour trip. Over 200 people braved the fog to come support Jordanne and the MRI Pageant. It was a packed house!! First off, I have to mention all the great food that Jordanne had arranged. I know I ate my fair share. There was also a silent auction filled with goodies and western decore and attire. I was very excited to find out that I won a green western shirt, baseball hat with "Rodeo Vegas" on it and a coffee mug that I had bid so hard on. There were numerous rodeo and fair queens that braved the weather to help celebrate with Jordanne. Some of them were Jordanne Blair (MRI 2010), Lindsey Ahrenholtz (MRI 2009), Hannah Hilsabeck (MTRI 2010), Shelby Chapman (MTRI 2009), Katie Chaffin (Miss Rodeo Illinois 2010), Jenna Cool (Miss Leon Princess), Rachel Burton (Miss NFPB) and Rachel Burgren (Miss URA 2010) along with a few others. There was also a live auction that all the queens participated in, all of us held up items that were up for bid so the audience could get a better view. I tried to buy the cutest puppy but it went out of my price range. I had such a great time there! My next stop is in Winterset, Iowa on February 13th for the coronation of Hannah Hilsabeck, Miss Teen Rodeo Iowa 2010. Until next time, Happy Trails!

Hello Everyone!
My last appearance was at the Tri State Rodeo in Fort Madison and the Miss Rodeo Iowa Pageant. I also competed for the title of Miss Rodeo Iowa 2010. There were five MRI contestants and five MTRI contestants. All the girls were amazing, I'm so glad I wasn't a judge! Congratulations to Jordanne Blair for winning the MRI title and to Hannah Hilsabeck for winning the MTRI title. If you have never met these two ladies, make sure to put it on your "to do" list. They are both amazing ladies and very deserving of their newly earned titles. I would also like to say congratulations to my pageant roommate, Heidi Gansen who was the Miss Rodeo Iowa First Runner Up and to Rachel Burgren who was second runner up. I was very honored that the contestants gave me the title of Miss Congeniality.
After coronation I stepped into my Miss Rodeo Lenox attire and headed to the rodeo. If you have never been to the Tri State Rodeo, you are truly missing out on an interesting time, especially the grand entry. I gathered with the other queens to do a gueens run along with being in the grand entry. I found out that my new horse, Boon, who doesn't have very much rodeo experience did not like all the commotion of the grand entry. He tried his hardest to get me off of his back and into the dirt. Thankfully I stayed on and made it through safe and sound although I can't say that for some of the other riders. There were about five or six cowboys and cowgirls that ate some dirt during the grand entry. It is a sight that must be seen! After the grand entry, mom and I started our long drive back to Corning.
Until next time ...

Hello everyone!
My recent travels have taken me to Maryville, Missouri for the 15th Annual Ed Phillips Memorial Rodeo on August 21st. Congratulations to Whitney Beery for earning the title of Miss Ed Phillips Memorial Rodeo Queen 2009. I participated in the grand entry and carried a flag for the stock contractor. Whitney and I also got to run cattle back during the rodeo. The rodeo was great!
I would like to send out my sympathies to the family of Matt Samo who was killed in a motorcycle accident. He was a good friend, a great guy and will be truly missed.
My next stop is Fort Madison where I will be competing for the title of Miss Rodeo Iowa.
Until next time

Hello Everyone!
I got the amazing opportunity to visit the Sidney Pro Rodeo. I always love visiting Rodeo Town USA because my grandpa use to take me every year when I was younger. I truly believe that is where my love for rodeo was born. My mom and I got there early Saturday afternoon to enjoy an amazing cookout with some family. Thank you so much to Steve Johnson and his family / friends for all the great food and hospitality. The venison was amazing!
Congratulations to the new Miss Sidney Rodeo, Morgan Mowery.
I’ve always loved riding in Sidney’s grand entry. The sights, sounds and smells of the fireworks they shoot off is always a rush. Sidney has to be my favorite PRCA rodeo! There was some added excitement during the saddle bronc riding when the power went out. No worries though rodeo fans, they ran it “old school” without any high tech lights or sounds for 3 events.
I got to run out cattle with Hollie Soucie (Miss Rodeo AKSARABEN), Lindsey Ahrenholtz (Miss Rodeo Iowa) and Morgan Mowery (Miss Sidney Rodeo). Due to the power outage we were unable to do any queen runs that night. After a slight technical problem everything went smooth and it was a great night for rodeo!
Next stop - Grundy County on Saturday the 8th to attend the benefit team roping for Lindsey Ahrenholtz, Miss Rodeo Iowa.
Until next time…

First off, I would like to give out a big thank you to the Lenox Stock and Saddle Club for making me feel very welcome at their rodeo. Also thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy the Lenox Rodeo. One more thank you needs to go out to all of my pageant sponsors; it wouldn’t be possible without all of you. Alright, now I’ll fill you in on what I have been up to the past couple of days.
The 64th Annual Lenox Rodeo got under way on Thursday, July 23rd and we couldn’t have asked for a better night. Courtney Stark, Miss Rodeo Lenox 2008, did her final queens run and then handed the title over to me. There were 5 queens that graced us with their time and beauty: Lindsey Ahrenholtz (MRI 2009), Shelby Chapman (MTRI 2009), Jenna Kool (Leon Rodeo Princess 2009), Hannah Hilsabeck (Miss Dallas County 2009) and Kara Telfer (Miss URA 2009). Thank you so much ladies, I am so glad to get to know all of you!
During the day on Friday we got to go bowling at Tiger Lanes in Lenox. It was so much fun! Thank you to the Haidsiak’s for letting us bowl and for the great food. I don’t think rodeo queens spend a lot of time in bowling alley’s because we were all excited when we broke 100. Although we had a few sprinkles it was another great night for a rodeo. Once again Rite N Gear of Woodburn, IA brought their best stock to Lenox. It was very obvious that the cowboys and cowgirls loved the challenge because there was way over 100 contestants that night.
On Saturday all the queens got to have lunch at my favorite pizza place, Breadeaux Pizza in Lenox. After we stuffed ourselves we headed out to the Lenox Care Center to help celebrate the July birthdays. We square danced, learned about some famous old movie and TV stars along with their horse (and sidekicks). We also had some snacks, visited with the residents and signed autograph sheets.

Now every night before the rodeo starts there is time to let some of the younger cowboys and cowgirls shine while competing in the muttin’ bustin’ and steer riding. Shelby Chapman (MTRI 2009) and I decided that steer riding sounded like it would be fun to try. So we signed up, got our numbers and waited back behind the chutes. Thanks to everyone behind the chutes that helped us get ready. I was up first and rode for six seconds and got a score of 63 points. I was so excited and I have to say that it was one of the coolest things I have ever done. Shelby was up next and got a score of 66 points. She won that one but we both agreed that we would have to try it again.
Saturday night was Tough Enough to Wear Pink night to support the cure for breast cancer. It was amazing to see all the cowboys and cowgirls pull together to help out for a good cause. It was another amazing night for a rodeo and the performance was great.
Sunday morning kicked off the Youth Rodeo, there was a really good turn out. Once again we had beautiful weather and the kids had so much fun. I got the lead the grand entry, helped with the stick horse race, goat tail untie and the muttin’ bustin’. They tried to get me on a steer again but once a weekend was enough for me. I made a bunch of new friends and got to see some old friends as well. I even got to ride with Boo Baker in the pole bending and she beat me!
Over all it was an amazing weekend. Thank you to all the queens that came and thank you to Heather Beck for once again being an amazing queen coordinator.
This weekend I’m going to be making an appearance at the Sidney Iowa Championship Rodeo. Hope to see you all there!
